Baking/Cooking can be Therapeutic
How many of us relieve our stress by diving into cookies, cake or ice cream… resulting in guilt and tighter pants! Well, that’s been the story of my life.
But thankfully, a few years ago, I realized that I actually didn’t need to eat the food I enjoyed… I could just make it! I discovered that baking and cooking gave off a calming influence… a much-needed stress reliever! I don’t take pleasure in flattery… but I did find a little creative side in me… and I have to admit, it was kind of nice! My little hobby turned into a small family owned business that I absolutely love. The more I bake, the more I cook… the more I learn. The more I worked toward this new family owned goal… the more peace, joy and confidence I find.
I hope you take the time to discover a little chef or baker in you too!
The importance of baking & cooking with family
As a child, I loved going into the kitchen with my mother every Saturday morning while she made me the simplest breakfast… scrambled eggs on white bread with butter. There was something so very yummy about her egg sandwiches. Who knows? Maybe it was just the thought of feeling pampered by her desire to feed me, or perhaps it was just being able to be with her while she cooked.
There is something magical that occurs when family members cook together and eat together. Personal bonds develop, recipes are discovered, funny moments happen that last a lifetime and the rest of the family is either happy or sad to enjoy your wonderful meal (depending on the taste)
Whatever it is… take the time to plan a meal with a family member today! Go and discover a new recipe! You don’t always need to go somewhere to do this. Set aside some time to prep a meal while laughing and enjoying each other’s company. And don’t take it too seriously!
